Product Detail

These five complete Oyster Mushroom grow kits come fully colonized in the bag, making them easy to at home - far easier than you'd ever expect!
Growing our mushrooms is as easy as growing alfalfa sprouts but far more rewarding.

These are the five different kits you get:

Pink Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit.
The Pink Oyster is a brightly colored tropical mushroom that personally is our favorite when it comes to flavor.

Elm Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit
The elm oyster mushroom is another great one, it's almost a pure white, and is one of the easiest to grow with the largest mushrooms.

Blue Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit
The Blue oyster mushroom is a very aggressive strain, producing rapidly growing dense white mycelium ("mushroom roots"). It's fairly mild in flavor and best harvested when a bit young. It's actually a subspecies of the common tree oyster which grows locally in Utah in the spring and fall.

Phoenix Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit
The Phoenix Oyster is a lot like the tree oyster but it can handle much warmer climates. It's a very easy one to grow because of it's diverse range of temperatures. We're not sure it's taste is much different than that of regular oyster mushrooms, but that's up for debate. It's fruit is often smaller and not as tightly clustered together. It is one of the most common oyster mushrooms in utah, and is seen growing from spring, through summer, to fall. If you've seen an oyster mushroom in utah, this is probably the one!

Wellington Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit
The Wellington Oyster is one of our favorites as it quickly colonizes the substrates and produces very large fruits and is high yielding. It's also got a great taste and is a favorite of many gourmet chefs who purchase mushrooms from local growers.

About Our Product

When ordered, you'll get a full and proper set of instructions, a trouble shooting guide, and a page with recipes and preparation. When it comes to growing you just need to mist occasionally with a spray bottle and ensure that they stay humid and cool with lots of fresh air. The mushrooms will start growing, and a few days later you can begin harvesting and enjoying these gourmet edible mushrooms. Once harvested, more will grow! These kits make growing mushrooms easy and fun.

These are fully colonized, ready to fruit mushroom kits made with sustainable Utah sourced golden wheat straw which we shred, hydrate and pasteurize. It is then inoculated with 100% USDA Organic mushroom grain spawn.

This package is approximately 25 pounds in total, with each oyster mushroom grow kit weighing approximately 5 pounds. Each kit produces two to three harvests of mushrooms per bag. Each harvest, assuming good conditions yields around 1/4 pound to 1 pound each time but mileage may vary for each species and each grower.

About Oyster Mushrooms in General

Beyond Oyster mushrooms just tasting great and being fun to grow, they are healthy choice, and often flavors that are lacking in many vegetarian or vegan dishes. Not only are they low in calories, low in fat,, cholesterol-free, gluten-free, and very low in sodium. They are also high in protein, fiber, iron, and contain significant levels of zinc, potassium, selenium, calcium, phosphorus, folic acid, and vitamins B1, B3, B5 and B12, plus vitamin C and vitamin D. Some oyster mushrooms even contain statins which are a naturally occurring compound that inspired a class of cholesterol reducing drugs.

Knowing how to grow Oyster mushrooms is also a great survivalist skill, with our kits you can expand the substrate into more materials to grow more food. You can even grow them on cardboard!

When the kit is done...

When each kit is spent, you bury it in your garden and sometimes you'll get another few mushrooms out of it. If not, it decomposes and improves the quality of the soil. Of course, you can always just throw it in the trash, but these mushroom blocks can be fully composted for your garden.

You could also mix it with wet cardboard, or newspaper and it's very likely the mushrooms will colonize it and grow even more mushrooms. You can also add them to pasturized straw, sawdust, or other materials. If you've questions about this, just let us know and we'd be more than happy to walk you through the process! :)
