45 seeds of Trichocereus Bridgesii which is more properly known as Echinopsis lageniformis, or commonly Bolivian torch cactus. It is a a fast-growing columnar cactus from the high deserts of Bolivia. Among the indigenous populations of Bolivia, it is sometimes calledachuma or wachuma, although these names are also applied to related species such as Echinopsis pachanoi which are also used for their psychedelic effects.

One Humboldt Filter Pump Aspirator

This aspirator is also known as an eductor-jet pump, Injector/Ejector, Filter pump, water-jet pump or a Venturi pump. They are used for vacuum generation and suction.

Humboldt Aspirator Filter Pumps offer excellent performance for vacuum filtration under both high and low water pressure conditions. They also find use for vacuum distillation and dessication as it significantly lowers the boiling point and sublimation temperatures of substances. The pumps feature a ball-type, positive-action valve in the suction tube which aids in preventing water backflow if the pressure is reduced.

This H-12020 Chapman, Swirling-Type, Nickel-plated aspirator is designed for greater air entrainment capacity, the water inlet has 3/8" NPT tapered threads. The length of this aspirator is 5-3/8" or 137mm. The nozzle and end part of the suction tube are aluminum, while the body is composed of a chrome plated and chemical resistant metal. The vacuum inlet has a small hole preventing the inner workings of the aspirator from being clogged by large materials that may get sucked up.

If 25 °C (77 °F) water is used the aspirator is able to pull a vacuum of 3.2 kPa which is 0.46 psi or 32 mbar. If the water used it colder than 25 °C, it can pull an even stronger vacuum. Generally when in use it can easily boil water at room temperature.

This horse manure has been aged, is dry and has been processed through a rototiller and sifted through a screen to ensure it is of high quality for growing edible or medicinal mushrooms.

This can be added to vermiculite, coco coir, shredded straw, or other mushroom bulk substrates to improve performance, provide various support and nutrients, and help you reach the desired water content and density of your substrate for a bulk grow.


Elaeagnus angustifolia, Russian Olive Tree

Elaeagnus angustifolia, also called Russian Silverberry, Oleaster, or Russian olive, is a perennial deciduous tree up to twenty-three feet tall. It has flexible, often spiny branches with dark, smooth bark, small, narrow, silvery leaves, and small clusters of aromatic yellow flowers that produce a hard olive-shaped edible fruit. Russian olive tolerates a wide range of soil and moisture conditions, from sand to heavy clay, and can withstand flooding and silting. It grows best in deep sandy or loamy soils with only slight salt and alkali content. There are dense, healthy stands in river bottoms where the water table is seldom more than two feet below the surface, but it survives considerable drought. Russian olive is tolerant of considerable salinity or alkalinity, although it prefers slightly alkaline soils with low to medium concentrations of soluble salts. It can withstand temperatures ranging from -50 degrees F to 115 degrees F . It occurs from sea level to at least 8,000 feet elevation in several western states. Russian olive is somewhat shade tolerant and can withstand competition from other shrubs and trees.

Spawn bags, which are often called filter patch bags, mycobags, and Unicornbags are manufactured by Unicorn Imp. & Mfg. Corp.

These bags are perfect for spawn production and growing a wide variety of edible, medicinal, and exotic mushrooms with a wide variety of substrates such as wood, grain, straw, compost, and manure.

They have the dimensions of 12.8 inch wide X 19 inch long. To keep in moisture, allow for fresh air exchange, and to keep contaminants out, they have a 3T-High efficiency 0.2 microns filter patch 1-5/8 square inches in size. They are reusable, being able to not only withstand but stay soft and easy to seal after heat treatment in an autoclave for six hours at 262°F (125°C).

Made of a durable special polypropylene blend to allow for translucency, prevent cracking, and hole formation during the cultivation process.

*Note* These are gusseted - meaning they have folds on the sides which allows for the bag to open into more of a square or box shape, this is advantageous and aids in keeping the bag upright and holding the material. We recommend the default substrate as it comes out to be 25% Coco Coir, 25% Horse Manure, 25% Shredded Straw, 25% Vermiculite, plus the non-volume adding 5% Gypsum.

The default substrate is an ideal mixture that has been properly hydrated by bringing to field capacity, mixing, and then pasteurized. Comes in one filter patch bag. The coco coir is ideal for creating a fluffy substrate that has a better micro environment than horse manure alone.. The horse manure and straw increases the ash (minerals) and nitrogen content ensuring a higher biological efficiency than just coir. Vermiculite increases the water carrying capacity of the substrate along with making it more fluffy aiding to the micro-climate in the substrate.

About the substrate:

All variations of substrate has, by volume, 5% Gypsum (calcium sulfate) added.
All material is individually hydrated to field capacity before being mixed with the other substrate. It is done in this order to ensure that the substrate has the highest stable water content, which is important because it has been shown that available water during colonization and fruiting is one of the biggest factors when it comes to yield.

The individually hydrated substrates are ran through a trommel if appropriate and then mixed in the desired ratio using a cement mixture to ensure all substrate material is evenly distributed and that it is lose and fluffy, creating the ideal micro-climate for rapid colonization once the grain spawn has been added.

About the Coco Coir:
Coco coir is soaked in water for 24 hours. This long soak helps to ensure that it is properly hydrated. If it is not soaked for a long period, it can continue to absorb the water and become less than field capacity during shipping.

After the soaking it is ran through the trommel to ensure that it mixes properly with the other substrates and to remove any chunks of unwanted materials.

About the Shredded Straw:

The shredded straw is made from the smaller golden wheat straw and is processed to be approximately 1/2 inch in length. It is then brought to field capacity by soaking for at least 24 hours.

About the Horse Manure:
The horse manure is collected in a way to ensure that it is free of unwanted debris. It is aged outside in the sun with frequent watering to reduce ammonia and urea, and yield desirable nitrogen sources by growth of firefang (actinomycetes).

It is then ran through a 1/2 inch trommel to break it apart to ensure it mixes evenly with the other substrates.

Before it is mixed with the other substrate It is brought to field capacity by a long soak.

About the Vermiculite:

The vermiculite is Grade #2 from Therm-o-Rock. The size that is most suited for holding moisture and keeping the substrate loose and fluffy. It is brought to field capacity before being mixed with the other substrates.

Recommended Spawn Ratio:
3 lbs of grain spawn or 5 lbs of bulk substrate. You can buy sterilized grain in a filter patch bag with an injection port HERE

The 3lbs/5lbs ratio ensures a very rapid colonization rate and further increases the mineral and nitrogen content. By volume, this is about a 1:2 ratio. Any more spawn and the substrate structure starts to become less than ideal, and any less will of course result in slower colonization rates. you can use a 1/4 ratio without any risk of contamination, but colonization time and yield will be lower.
